Italian Supercar manufacturer Lamborghini is likely to bring out its replacement for the iconic Gallardo by the end of next year or in early 2014. The vehicle will be based on the modular platform which is currently being developed by Porsche for the entire Volkswagen group.
Touted to be lighter and more fuel efficient due to the modular platform, the new car currently known as the ‘Cabrera’ will be powered by a naturally aspirated V-10 an anachronism in an age where everyone is downsizing displacement and cylinder, and attaching turbochargers for better efficiency. The engine will be mated to a dual-clutch transmission as Lamborghini has dropped the concept of manual transmission altogether due to poor patronage and the difficulties a manual transmission offers by way of meeting ever-tightening emission norms.
It is believed that Italian manufacturer is also streamlining its product range to keep costs down and reduce confusion among customers. The vehicle will mostly like have all-wheel drive and maybe the option of rear-drive only. We will give you more details as soon as the company releases them.
