- New model will be in the league of Veneno and Centenario
- Might take inspiration from the Terzo Millennio Concept
Lamborghini has picked up this new trend of building a ‘one-off' where they allow their engineers and designers to go bonkers. But underneath this madness and extravagance, Lamborghini quietly previews systems and technologies that are introduced in their own production cars soon after.
So, now, it is being said that Lamborghini is building another ‘one-off’, in the league of the Reventon, the Veneno and the Centenario and it will be powered by a hybrid powertrain. Although a few months ago, this would have seemed unlikely, Lamborghini’s statement at the launch of the Aventador SVJ, saying that this is the last of the V12s, kind of confirms it.
It is not that they are scrapping the V12. Rather, the 789bhp monster will have additional support from a roughly 50bhp electric motor taking the numbers close to 850bhp. Not surprisingly then, this will be the most powerful Lamborghini ever built till date and will lay the ground for the successor of the Aventador, which is almost due.
It is said that this ‘one-off’ will take design inspiration from the Terzo Millennio concept revealed some time ago and it does seem apt for the first Lamborghini to be electrified. It is also being said that only 63 of these cars will be built, but to get further confirmation, we all will have to stay tuned!
