Lamborghini’s annual sales have increased with the carmaker selling 2,121 cars in 2013 as compared to 2,083 units sold in 2012. These figures are tremendous considering the sluggish movement of business in the super sports car segment.
The Italian manufacturer was able to achieve this performance due its dealership network of 129 dealers spread across 46 countries. The sales distribution for the global brand is evened by allotting 34 per cent for the regions of Europe, Middle East and Africa, while 36 per cent for America and 30 per cent accounting for Asia Pacific.
The company claims that 2013 has been the most successful year of V12 model sales in the history of Lamborghini and most of this is credited to the Lamborghini Aventador. Till date, 1,001 units of the same have been sold. The Lamborghini Gallardo, which was rolled off the production line, proved to be the evergreen super car and the most-built Lamborghini ever, as 14,022 units were delivered to customers during its run.
Lamborghini introduced the ultimate open-air luxury super sports car, the Aventador LP 700-4 Roadster, in the beginning of 2013. The Gallardo Squadra Corse, which was introduced at the end of the year, celebrated the end of the Gallardo range with a best-in-class version. It was able to break many lap time records.
With the special anniversary editions of the Gallardo, the Aventador and the Aventador Roadster there were limited edition one-offs like the Egoista, the Veneno and the Veneno Roadster which paid homage to the 50th anniversary of Automobili Lamborghini.
Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A., said, ‘‘In the year of our 50th anniversary, Lamborghini has delivered a very satisfying performance, confirming the strength of our product and commercial strategy. Even in its last year of production the Lamborghini Gallardo has shown strong sales, whereas the Aventador has beaten all records of V12 model sales in our history. The USA and China are our biggest single markets, the Middle East and Japan are very strong and Europe is in line with the trend in our market segment.’’
