The Lamborghini Urus SUV production model is not expected to stray away too far away from the concept car that was unveiled in 2012. Last year the legendary Italian automaker had greenlighted the steps for its production at the Sant’Agata plant and it will begin in 2018.
The company aims to sell 3000 units a year and has got its sights set on markets like China, Russia, USA and in the larger scheme of things India where the demand for such vehicles is expected to be quite high by that time. The company is now expected to hire 500 additional employees and double production capacity on the back of a huge investment exceeding over 100 million dollars.
The crossover will have the Lamborghini hallmarks both inside and outside. CEO Stephan Winkelmann has said that this is likely to be the first model from their stables that will have a turbocharged engine as well as a hybrid setup.
