Lamborghini has revealed the new Aventador LP 700-4 Roadster. The Italian supercar maker is looking to sell the convertible by banking on the success of its coupe sibling which has already sold over 1300 units since its launch last year.
The most obvious change is the detachable two-piece carbon fibre roof. Weighing just over six kilos, the roof has to be removed manually and can be stored in the front compartment. The roof of the engine has also been modified to maintain structural rigidity and improve cooling.
The topless roadster also has been fitted with a wind deflector and a powered rear windshield. While the former, depending on how badly you want the wind to alter your appearance, can be removed and stored away, the latter controls air-flow in the cabin as well as loudness of the engine noise. The car has also been given windows to ensure that there is a full-fledged cabin when the roof is up.
The Aventador Roadster is still powered by the massive 6.5-litre V12 engine found in the coupe. It produces 700bhp and 539Nm of torque and gives the car a top speed of 350kmph. The body of the new car sports a two-tone paint job. The windshield pillar, the two roof sections and the rear window area up to the "fins" are painted in gloss black in contrast to the colour of the car. The range of colours available for the Roadster has been supplemented with a very light, metallic blue colour, Azzuro Thetis, whose tone varies with the angle of the light.
The Aventador LP 700-4 Roadster will retail for 300,000 Euros (Rs 2 crore excluding taxes) and can be ordered at any Lambo dealer across the world.
