The Aventador is Lamborghini’s flagship supercar, a car faster than most of the people can handle. But if you are Lamborghini’s racing division with a name like ‘Squadro Corse’, the Aventador is like a plain canvas. So when Squadro Corse was given a free hand to build their first one off, the SC18 was borne.
It is surprising how SC has managed to keep this thing road legal. It might be because this is a special commission from a customer and certainly a crazy one at that. Because it looks incredibly aggressive especially in this combination of black and fiery red. With SC’s focus on track performance, the front bumper, the hood abyss, roof scoop, the wider skirts, the larger side scoops and the mad wing atop the humungous rear splitter have been all designed for the precise purpose of wedging through the air and at the same time, channel some of it to aid cooling and performance.
The aero aids have been sourced from Lamborghini’s motorsport experience from the Super Trofeo cars and the GT3s and with the car being lighter, the 770bhp from the 6.5-litre V12 would make it do things even faster. Since it is a one-off commission built car, we might never get the real figures. But this may very well be the fastest Lamborghini Aventador yet.
