You've seen the teasers and scoured the internet for the possible answers. Here, then, is the newest Lamborghini on the block - the Estoque. And surprise, surprise, the engine's in front!
'Estoque', in true Lambo tradition, is the name for a short rapier used by matadors in the ring. The car is anything but short - with its claim to be a super saloon like the upcoming Aston Martin Rapide and Porsche Panamera, it will have to be long enough to accomodate four adults and an equal number of doors. The Estoque is expected to be constructed with Audi's new A8 alloy architecture driven by the Gallardo's V10 through a seven-speed dual clutch transmission and with power going to all four wheels. However, the company has said that they're aiming for the car to emit less than 300g/km of CO2, so a hybrid or even a diesel cannot be ruled out.
A Lamborghini as practical as the Estoque may appeal to today's sensibilities, but we're sure the Countach and Diablo are turning in their metphorical graves. We're hoping that the Murcielago SV really does exist...
