The forces of fortune seem to be showering their blessing on Italian automaker Lamborghini as it has already managed to sell 3,000 units of the Huracan supercar within just 10 months of its launch. The Sant'agata Bolognese- based manufacturer already has big plans for its baby super car and is expected to launch a host of special editions once the car hits the one year mark.
While this would be a superb feat considering that the Gallardo sold a lot lesser in 10 months, we must remember that the world and time into which the Gallardo was launched is very different to the one in which the Huracan has arrived. The former was gradually launched into a variety of markets over the course of its existence while the newer car is already on sale in over 10-15 markets outside of Europe and the Americas.
To recap, the Huracan is the replacement for the Gallardo. It has been built on an all-new platform with a new type of hybrid carbon fibre and aluminium construction, which will also be shared with the next generation Audi R8.
The engine is a modern version of the 5.2-litre V10 mill used in the Gallardo. While the most powerful Gallardo could make ‘only' 562bhp, the one in the Huracan churns out 610bhp and 560Nm of torque. The engine sends power to all four wheels through a new seven-speed dual clutch transmission, called Lamborghini Doppia Frizione.
The Lamborghini Huracan was launched in India on September 22 and has been priced at Rs 3.43 crore (ex-showroom Delhi).
