- Will go into production in 2020
- But will be available only for a one-make on-off road racing series
Lamborghini is definitely on a roll especially its racing division, Squadro Corse. They just came up with the mental SC18 about which you can read here and now they have also announced the ST-X which is a racing version of their latest SUV, the Urus. The ST-X is a concept made for on and off road racing and will get its own one make series in 2020.
The plan is to invite customers who love to race around Europe and the Middle East and have them drive at specially prepared circuits. So all they have to do is fly in and drive without having to worry about any kind of technical support or maintenance.
Mechanically the ST-X remains same, retaining the twin-turbo V8 and the intelligent all-wheel drive system. But adhering to racing rules it will get a full roll cage, fire suppression system and an FIA-approved fuel tank. The car will be around 25 per cent lighter while the roll-cage will add to torsional rigidity.
Also differentiating it will be a big rear wing and a unique exhaust with hexagonal tips. The concept true to its racing intent is covered in stickers with the bright green Verde Mantis base colour and contrasting black wheels.
