The much-hyped Lamborghini Huracan made its international debut at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show earlier this year. A couple of weeks after the unveiling, Lamborghini India brought in a pre-production version of the supercar to showcase it to the company’s uber-rich clientele in Mumbai, Bangalore and Delhi. Now, reports suggest that the Huracan will be launched in India in September, this year.
The replacement of Lamborghini’s best-selling model the Gallardo, the Huracan, continues to employ the 5.3-litre V10 engine, in a tuned guise. The engine churns out 610bhp and 560Nm of torque to all four wheels through a seven-speed dual clutch gearbox. The car is based on a new lightweight platform, which will also be used in the next-generation Audi R8.
Lamborghini currently sells only the Aventador in India through its two dealerships in Delhi and Mumbai, with a third one set to come up later this year. During the 2014 Beijing Motor Show, Lamborghini had revealed that the Huracan had managed to accumulate 1,500 bookings already.
In over a decade of its lifetime, Lamborghini has sold more than 10,000 units of the Gallardo which made it the company’s most successful model ever. Many critics and have disapproved of the Huracan’s conservative styling, though if the numbers are anything to go by, the Gallardo’s record might soon be broken.
