Lamborghini has launched the Aventador Roadster LP700-4 in India for Rs 4.77 Crore (ex-showroom Delhi). The Italian supercar house developed the Roadster based on the success of the hardtop which has already sold over 1300 units since its launch in 2011.
The roadster has been fitted with a detachable hardtop which can be removed in just two easy steps. The two-piece roof is made entirely from carbon fibre using various technologies which guarantee maximum aesthetic performance and stiffness although each component is extremely light, weighing less than six kg.
The car has also been fitted with a wind deflector and a powered rear windshield. The former can be removed and stored away while the latter controls air-flow in the cabin as well as loudness of the engine noise. The car has also been given windows to ensure that there is a full-fledged cabin when the roof is up.
This Italian monster on four wheels is powered by a naturally aspirated 6.5-litre V12 engine which produces 700bhp and 690Nm of torque. Like its hardtop sibling, the Roadster’s engine is mated to a seven-speed semi-automatic gearbox and transmits power to all four wheels via a Haldex 4WD system. The car can accelerate from 0-100kmph in three seconds and hit a top speed of 350kmph even with the roof down!
Commenting on the launch of the car for the Indian market, Andrea Baldi, sales manager, south East Asia & Pacific, said “We are delighted to introduce the highly acclaimed Aventador Roadster in India. The Roadster is the most exciting supercar that embodies performance, design, technology and engineering excellence which has captivated the imagination of auto enthusiasts across the world. I am confident about the success of the Aventador Roadster on Indian roads.”
Commenting on the development of the Urus SUV, Andrea Baldi said that it was in the pipeline and an announcement in this regard would be made within the next few months. He also refused to comment on a question posed by CarWale about the Cabrera coupe, the successor to the Gallardo. The Aventador will go on sale from mid 2013 at Lamborghini dealers nationwide.
