The Lamborghini Huracan has arrived in India for exclusive customer previews. This is within a week of the unveiling of the car at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show.
The car that has been exclusively brought from Italy is a pre-production version that will be displayed in Mumbai first, followed by other cities like Bangalore and Delhi, before going back to the carmaker’s factory. Latest developments suggest that the supercar is expected to be launched this year. It might be priced at Rs 3.43 crore (Ex-showroom-New Delhi) when it goes on sale in the country.
The Lamborghini Huracan, the successor of the Gallardo, boasts of an all-new lightweight platform. The carmaker has managed to make this as light as 1,422kg with elements like carbon fiber and aluminium in its construction. The car boasts of a new look though some of the traits on the styling front have been borrowed from the Aventador.
The Gallardo is powered by the same 5.2-litre V10 engine from the Gallardo. However, this mill now gets direct and indirect injection with comprehensive retuning done to the motor. The engine now produces 610bhp of power at 8,250 rpm and 560Nm of torque. The car can sprint to 100 kmph from standstill in 3.2 seconds. The 0 to 200kmph run can be done in 9.9 seconds with a claimed top-speed of 325kmph. The Huracan features stop-start technology as standard and has CO2 emissions as low as 290 g/km.
Lamborghini sold more than 14,000 units of the Gallardo in its lifespan of ten years. It was one of the most successful models from the Italian manufacturer. Only time will tell if the new Huracan will even come close to the feat that the Gallardo performed. The company has already received 1,000 bookings of the car globally. Though priced steeply we think that the car when launched in India will find many buyers from the niche segment of consumers.
