It was previewed in the form a single teaser two weeks ago and now it is here finally.Yes, for those who are in the know-how, will be aware that the Italian supercar maker began its own one-make racing series in 2012 called the Gallardo Super Trofeo. With the baby Lambo being phased out in favour of the new Huracan , it was only a matter of time before a Huracan Super Trofeo made its debut, which it has now done, at ‘the The Quail car show’ in Montery California.
Let us begin with what makes the Huracan exciting- the engine. It is powered by the same 5.2-litre V10 engine from the standard car but is now tuned to produce 620bhp and around 670Nm of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual clutch transmission. The vehicle weighs just 1270kgs and thanks to a hybrid carbon fibre/aluminium chassis and strict motorsports weight reduction, the weight/power ratio is 4.5 lbs/hp.
The aerodynamics provide better efficiency, traction and downforce using a ten-position rear wing, front and rear diffusers as well as adjustable front air intakes. The Huracán Super Trofeo will be exclusively-equipped with Pirelli tyres engineered specifically for the car. The redesigned Huracán Super Trofeo was developed in collaboration with Dallara Engineering, with direct involvement by founder Giampaolo Dallara. The Huracan Super Trofeo series will begin across America, Europe and Asia in early 2015.
