Lamborghini is working on a faster Lamborghini Huracan. While it was expected to get the Superleggera badge, latest reports suggest that it might be called the Performante and will break cover at the Geneva Auto Show later this year.
The Performante has the same 5.2-litre fire-breathing V10 but gets the new fuel-injection system that mixes multi-point fuel injection with stratified injection. Introduced first on the limited edition Huracan Avio, the injection system will help the Performante extract a few more horses over the standard car. The engine powers all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic gearbox and should be faster to 100kmph that the 3.2second dash of the regular Huracan.
The Performante will shed weight with the generous use of carbon fibre from the chassis construction to the body panels, the interior et al. With the weight expectedly at least 50kg lower, the bodywork has been tweaked to generate more downforce to deal with the added speed. The air dam in the front is new and it gets massive fixed rear-wing. It also gets GT3-style raised twin exhaust pipes.
It goes without saying that the car will be introduced to India and a little birdie says that it is already generating some interest in the subcontinent. As evident from the spy-shots, the Huracan Performante will be available in both coupe and spyder bodystyles.
