The supercar from Sant’Agata Bolognese is already five years old. The mid-engine sports car Aventador from the Italian manufacturer was launched in 2011 and is looking forward to a midlife refreshment. Cladded under the camouflage, the facelift has been caught testing on a track. The facelifted Aventador is expected at next year’s Geneva Motor show.
Although heavily cloaked, looking at the test mule, it becomes clear that the facelift will get a more aggressive front, with additional splitters and smaller side intakes. It will boast even better aerodynamic with more downforce which is expected to improve the handling. At the rear, the flame spitting exhaust is reduced to three pipes, designed and integrated beautifully in a single triangular unit, unlike the straight-four in the current one. There are new splitters and large air diffusers, which seems inspired by the Aventador SV and the Centenario. One more additional change is the extra air intake atop the rear fenders, to pass on air to that fire breathing V12, which sits inside a redesigned glass covers. The alloy wheels were borrowed straight from the Roadster.
Apart from the visual update, the facelift will also get a power boost. It is probable that the 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12 will have a 20-40 bhp more than the current one which makes 700bhp and 690Nm. The Aventador Roadster facelift would follow with both cars anticipated to receive new colours as well.
The Aventador replacement will only arrive at the end of this decade.
