Changing times and evolving needs has encouraged super carmaker Lamborghini to sign a three-year sponsorship deal with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Italy. As a result of the collaboration, Lamborghini engineers will be working with the students and the teaching staff at MIT with a common aim of presenting the next-gen of supercars.
The company issued a statement stating, “The partnership represents a step into the future for the automotive industry, with the ultimate aim of paving the way for a very ambitious project, namely a super sports car ready for the challenges of the third millennium.”
Further, Stefano Domenicali, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Automobili Lamborghini, said, "We want people to think of us more and more as a trendsetter in the super luxury and sports car segment. MIT has always been a pioneer in innovation and we are proud to have signed this general agreement with such an illustrious institution, which will lead to the study of issues of mutual interest relating to the super sports car for the third millennium."
The super sports car which will be a result of mutual efforts, is expected to be ready for third millennium technological challenges that the company might face from its rivals. MIT-Italy on the other hand is happy with the collaboration and are eagerly looking forward to the projects that will be worked during the course of the partnership. It will however, take a while before the final product will be officially unveiled as the projects will have to be thoroughly tested before being introduced.
