The Ferrari LaFerrari is expected to get a convertible version this year and it has been previewed for a private audience at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. An Instagram snap from the event where the car was believed to be shown to potential buyers indicates this development.
The photo taken by user petrolhead_4life shows a Ferrari box with the illustration of a Spider body style on the lid. There are suggestions that this car will get a detachable hardtop like its rival the Porsche 918. This would make it convenient for the buyer but make the car even heavier than normal, a possibility that Ferrari is unlikely to accept. The hardtop version weighs just 1250kgs and this one is likely to have another 30kgs added to its bulk.
It seems quite possible that Ferrari is likely to give its hypercar an auto folding soft top. This cloth covering is expected to be contrast coloured and will, for obvious reasons, be priced higher than its hardtop sibling.
There will be a limited production run for this Spider variant and by the look of things, at least half the cars in the production run would have already been bought by existing Ferrari customers.
