Renault India has a huge demand for its Kwid, and a booking figure that has left the buyers with a waiting period from 3 to 8 months. Renault Kwid received 25,000 bookings in the first month itself. While the factory only has the capacity of producing 5,000 to 6,000 units, it now plans to increase production capacity by 50 per cent.
Renault India has said they will be increasing the capacity to 8,000 to 10,000 units a month, by February–March 2016 to meet the demand.
Sumit Sawhney, managing director of Renault India said, "Kwid has been a great success and we are ramping up the capacity to meet demand. With 98 per cent local content, we along with our vendors, are cranking up on volumes. Chennai rains was a dampener, but we are working overtime to meet the demand."
The Renault Kwid is available at Rs 2.57 lakh (Ex-showroom Delhi).
