Those familiar with the world of performance tuning in India will know a name like KS Motorsport (Mumbai), who has done many a mean machine in the last few years. Some of the cars prepared by KS Motorsport have won many a closed street racing event. Normally known for turbo-charging and doing up Japanese street machines like the Mitsubishi Lancer, Honda City and many a Suzuki, KS Motorsport has just launched Revo Technik ECU remaps for India.
Revo Technik is a British based tuning firm that specialized in ECU remaps for the VAG (Volkswagen Auto Group) range of cars – which includes Audi, Seat, Skoda, Volkswagen and Porsche. In principle the Revo Technik remaps are quick and easy to install – simply plug into the car’s OBD port toaccess the ECU and upload a new engine remap which is nothing but a small file which now gives the engine’s Electronic Control Unit (ECU) a new set of instructions to work with by essentially altering the fuel, air and ignition program apart from taking several other parameters into account. In most cases there is a clear 12% power gain from a stock motor. However these power increases can be significantly higher if you play with the exhaust, intake and even decide to put in a larger turbo! The advantage with the Revo Technik remaps is that they are really masters at the Volkswagen group vehiclerange and are really one of the best names when it comes to remaps for VAG automobiles. There are several remaps available to suit slightly different driving conditions like for city or highway use and can also factor in such things such as fuel quality – which is great especially when you consider that there are plenty of places in our country where fuel quality is a very big issue. The Revo Technik remaps are available for both petrol and diesel powered engines and a hot favourite is the Skoda Laura TSi – which is an excellent out-and-out performance automobile to start with. (read roadtest) Take a look at the torque and bhp graphs on the Skoda Laura TSi run on a Dyno before and after the remap. Little wonder then, that the remapped cars are just so much more driveable and feel peppy from the word go! The first graph from the Dyno test puts the stock Laura TSi at 153.4bhp @ 5400rpm and with just a RevoTechnik Stage1 Remap, the same engine now puts out a meatier 173.3bhp @ 5300rpm. Also more significantly, torque is up too and that’s a key factor when you’re considering driveability. A Revo Technik remap is available for the entire range of Skoda, Volkswagen, Audi or Porsche vehicles and will cost you approximately Rupees 30,000. The good thing about these remaps is that they can’t be detected by a scanner when your vehicle goes in for a service and they can’t be reset. So if you've always wanted a little more performance from your Skoda Fabia or Volkswagen Polo to make them true hot hatches, maybe a Revo Technik remap is the answer!
