- Global debut on 19 December
- Will be slotted in between Sonet and Seltos
The Kia Syros will be offered two engine options at its global debut on 19 December and subsequent launch in early 2025. The engines in question are Kia’s 1.0-litre GDi turbo petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine.
1.0-litre petrol
The 1.0-litre engine is Kia’s smallest but more powerful than the NA 1.2-litre petrol. It produces 188bhp/172Nm and can be had with either a six-speed iMT or a seven-speed DCT.
1.5-litre diesel
The diesel is Kia staple starting right from the Sonet and going up to the Carens. It produces 114bhp/250Nm and can be had with either a six-speed MT, six-speed iMT or a six-speed torque converter automatic.
Pricing game
The move to relegate the 1.2-litre NA petrol to the Sonet is indicative that Kia wants a proper price separation between the two vehicles. Our money is on a difference of Rs.1 lakh between the Sonet and the Syros.
Kia Syros
The Kia Syros will be the automaker’s new SUV that will find a place between the Sonet and Seltos and will offer additional features and a better rear seat package over the Sonet. Teaser images are indicative of a boxy design with low-set headlamps and a high roof.
