Kia has kick-started its Indian innings with a bang. The Korean automaker, in fact, has hosted the global debut of its first offering for the Indian market, the Seltos. Set to rival the likes of Hyundai Creta, Mahindra XUV500 and a few other SUVs, the Seltos promises a lot on paper with several new age features and a comfortable cabin. Here are our top four interior highlights of this much-awaited model from Kia India.
Connected car tech
The Seltos comes equipped with Kia’s global UVO connect infotainment system which is an advanced connected car technology which offers an array of safety features. Similar to the new Hyundai Venue, the UVO gets features that can be described under five distinct categories i.e. navigation, safety and security, vehicle management, remote control and convenience. The UVO facility will be free for the first three years for its users and it will include voice commands, stolen vehicle tracking, SOS emergency assistance, remote engine start/stop and AC settings and safety alert (geo fence, time fence, speed, valet, idle).
10.25-inch infotainment display with Bose audio system
Inside the top-spec Seltos, the dashboard is dominated by a floating 10.25-inch infotainment display which comes with a high quality audio system and even a 360-degree surround camera. We have already seen the latter in the Nissan Kicks. The audio system, in fact, will be an 8-speaker Bose unit, meaning you can expect good quality audio output.
Other features and safety equipment
Besides a premium audio system and connected car tech, the Seltos will come with all the features that we have come to expect in this segment. You get climate control, a sunroof, electrically foldable mirrors, leather seats, ventilated front seats and lots more. In terms of safety tech, the Seltos will gets 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, traction control, automatic headlamps and wipers.
Perceived quality
Lastly, there’s the quality and look of the cabin to consider. We managed to get a close look at the Seltos’ cabin and it does appear to be neatly designed, with multiple materials used to make up the dash and the door pads. Like the Hyundai Creta, the Kia Seltos is expected to have a high quality interior with solid touch points and adequate comfort levels for most family car buyers.
