- The Seltos will be available in a total of 18 variants.
Kia Motors India is all set to launch the Seltos on 22 August. And before you plan to buy one, here's our first-drive review of the Kia Seltos. While there has been uncertainty over the availability of a top-spec AT variant at launch, we can confirm that Kia Motors will offer the GTX Plus trim in the 1.4L TGDi 7DCT and 1.5L CRDi 6AT engine/gearbox combinations. With the addition of these two trims, the Kia Seltos will be available in a total of 18 variants.
Earlier, the GTX Plus trim was only expected to be offered with the 1.4L TGDi petrol manual option. However, Kia Motors India has decided otherwise after taking customer feedback. Further, the company is also taking bookings for the top-spec GTX Plus automatic variants across the petrol and diesel engine options.
The Kia Seltos will be offered with two body trims - GT Line and Tech Line. The Tech Line will be available with 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines with manual as well as automatic transmissions. On the other hand, the GT Line trim will be available with the 1.4-litre TGDi (6MT and 7DCT) and 1.5-litre diesel (6AT) engines.
As far as transmissions are concerned, all the engines will be available with a six-speed manual gearbox. That said, the 1.5L petrol will get a CVT and the diesel motor will be offered with a six-speed torque converter automatic. A seven-speed DCT will be exclusive to the 1.4L turbo petrol engine. And all the powertrains will be BS-VI compliant from launch.
The Seltos will pack an extensive features list that includes an electric sunroof, 360-degree camera, 10.25-inch infotainment system, ventilated seats, an 8-speaker BOSE music system and some more. And then there's the UVO smart connectivity suite that lets you remotely switch on/off the engine, control air-con temperature, push GPS maps, set a geo-fence and much more.
Kia Motors says it will price the Seltos aggressively, and we are hearing an expected price range of Rs 11-17 lakhs (ex-showroom). If that's true, then the Seltos will sit bang in the centre of the mid-size SUV segment that includes the Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks, Renault Duster, Tata Harrier and the MG Hector.
