Kia took the covers off the all-new Seltos last week. The Seltos is a global crossover from the Korean carmaker and is expected to go on sale in a couple of months’ time. Ahead of that, details regarding the engine output have been put out.
We already know that there will be three engine options for the Seltos – two petrol and one diesel. The new 1.5-litre four-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol in the Seltos puts out 115bhp and 144Nm. On the other hand, the 1.4-litre T-GDI turbo-petrol unit produces 140bhp and 242Nm. The oil burner is the 1.5-litre CRDi which makes 115bhp and 250Nm. A six-speed manual will be available as standard but there will also be choice of automatics with all three engines – a six-speed torque converter for the 1.5-litre diesel, a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission for the 1.4 turbo-petrol and a CVT for the 1.5-litre petrol.
In terms of dimensions, the Seltos measures 4.3m in length, 1.8m in width and stands 1.62m tall and has a wheelbase of 2.61m. Appearance wise, there is the characteristic tiger nose grille flanked by ultra-modern headlamps, body cladding and prominent shoulder line, wraparound LED taillights and stylish looking alloys. There are two design schemes for the Seltos – GT-Line and the Tech Line, with eight monotone and five dual-tone colour options.
Inside, the Seltos gets a beige and brown setup and is loaded to the gills with features. There’s climate control, 10.25-inch display for the touchscreen system, heads up display, Bose sound system, sound mood lighting and connected car technologies. The comprehensive safety feature list gets six airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control, stability management programme, blind spot monitor, front and rear parking sensors and a surround view monitor.
As mentioned earlier, the Seltos will be launched in India in the months to come, and it is being produced at Kia’s new plant that it has set up at Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. We expect that Kia will price the Seltos in the range of Rs 11-17 lakhs (ex-showroom).
