- Kia Seltos is expected to be launched in August.
- It will get three engines and four transmission options.
- The Seltos is likely to fall under the Rs 11-17 lakhs (ex-showroom) price bracket.
Contrary to what is being reported by some websites, Kia Motors India is yet to start taking bookings for the Seltos. In an official statement, the company has revealed that “the bookings for Kia Seltos will start in July and customers will be duly notified of the process.”
Kia Seltos made its global premiere in India last week, and it is the first product that has been developed for the Indian market with global aspirations. While Kia hasn’t revealed the launch timeline of the Seltos, the mid-size SUV is expected to go on sale in India in August.
The Seltos has been designed from the ground-up for the domestic market, and its platform will also spawn the next-generation Hyundai Creta. Similar to the Hyundai Venue, the Kia Seltos too, will come equipped with smart connectivity features via the UVO Connect app.
Under the hood, the Kia Seltos will pack two petrol engines (1.5-litre/1.4-litre TGDI) and a diesel motor (1.5-litre turbocharged). A six-speed manual transmission will be standard on the 1.5-litre engines, while the 1.4-litre turbo-petrol motor will be offered with a seven-speed DCT. The 1.5-litre petrol mill will also get a CVT, while the diesel engine can be had with a six-speed automatic (torque converter).
The Seltos will rival the likes of MG Hector, Tata Harrier, Hyundai Creta and the Nissan Kicks. It is expected to be priced in the bracket of Rs 11-17 lakhs (ex-showroom).
