Kia has finally taken the wraps off its new compact SUV, the Stonic. The official debut of this SUV is expected to take place at the Frankfurt Motor Show.Â
A lot of focus has gone to the overall styling and features of the Stonic in order to make it very appealing. The muscular bonnet, tiger noise grille which is flanked by angular headlights and daytime running LED lights, makes the fascia look quite aggressive. The flared wheel arches and the large wheels give it a big SUV feel.Â
Kia claims that the Stonic is the most customisable car to date. The styling lends itself to a two-tone paint finish, and up to 20 two-tone combinations will be available, alongside five unique colours for the roof. In terms of features, the Stonic is equipped with the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in the seven-inch touchscreen system. There are some excellent safety features like autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian recognition and forward collision alert, blind spot detection with rear cross traffic alert and lane departure warning.
Under the bonnet, one gets to choose from three petrol engines, turbocharged 1.0-litre three-cylinder 118bhp, naturally aspirated 1.25-litre and 1.4-litre four-cylinder motors. The Stonic will be offered with a 1.6-litre four-cylinder diesel mill too.
Kia is planning to begin its India journey with four cars, one being a compact SUV. Will the Stonic be that one? Only time will tell.Â
