- Kia Motors is on a design tour in India
- Carmaker is displaying its two cars in different cities
- Plans to launch a new car every six months; Kia SP2i first
Kia Motors is showcasing two of their world-class cars (Niro and Carnival) in India through a design tour. This event is being held across different cities across the country and has now reached Vadodara.
The idea behind this tour is to introduce the brand to Indians and give them an up-and-close feel of the cars on display. It was just last year when Kia Motors made its debut at the 2018 Auto Expo and showcased 16 cars from their global line-up. Now, their mid-size SUV SP2i is already being manufactured at the company's Anantapur plant. It will be launched in the second half of this year.
The automaker aims to be amongst the top five automobile manufacturers in India within three years. With such an ambitious target, the carmaker already has a set plan of launching a new car every six months. With this, Kia should expand its portfolio to at least five vehicles by 2021. Its entry in the Indian market also plays a crucial role in complementing company’s other plants in China, Korea, Mexico, Slovakia and USA.
