A test mule of Kia’s full-size luxury sedan, the K900, was spotted testing in the US. Launched in 2012, the K900 was exported to Middle East, Russia and countries in American continents. However the spied prototype hints at the Korean manufacturer’s plans to give the K900 a midlife update.
Due to heavy camouflaging, the changes to the body panels have still been concealed, although the spy shots reveal the newly designed head lamp assembly which now gets a tweaked DRL insert. The new car carries a restyled ‘Tiger nose’ grille and a reworked air dam. The changes are evident at the rear, which houses a restyled tail lamp and rear bumper with redesigned dual exhaust tips.
The interior sees a revamped cabin with plush beige touches and an analogue clock which sits right beneath the infotainment system which is sourced from Lexicon. The steering wheel receives a wooden finish and the dashboard gets aluminium inserts in places. The luxury car is equipped with features such as blind spot detection, adaptive head lamps and a head-up display.
The new car is expected to carry the same powertrain as before – a 3.8-litre V6 engine producing 307bhp. A new 10-speed automatic gearbox may also be introduced with the updated K900, and all-wheel drive is likely to be an option.
The new K900 is expected be launched in the latter half of 2018 as the 2019 model. Once launched, the Kia K900 will continue to fight against the Cadillac CTS, Lexus GS and Genesis G80.
