‘A turbocharged 2.0-litre that pumps 315 horsepower to the rear wheels’. This was the statement accompanying the second spectacular teaser image of the Kia GT4 Stinger that was released by the company recently. The Kia GT4 Stinger concept will be making its debut on January 13 at the 2014 Detroit Motor Show and will be jostling for public attention along with the 2015 Ford F-150, the new Chevrolet Corvette Z06 and the Lexus RC F performance coupe among others.
Dubbed the GT4 Stinger, the concept is a low and wide 2+2 sports car, featuring an expansive grille framed by vertical LED headlights. Needless to say the front looks pretty inspired from the Audi R8. Previously the public did get a glimpse of it, as the Kia GT4 concept, at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2011 and the GT4 Stinger seems to follow its tyre marks with a rear-wheel-drive.
First teased last month from a bird’s-eye view (pictured below), the latest front-on image of the Kia GT4 Stinger concept shows that the GT4 Stinger concept incorporates Kia's signature ‘Tiger Nose’ grille design, which may be seen in most of the automaker's line-up. The engine as they have revealed will be a turbocharged 2.0-litre producing 315bhp.
Created by Kia's American Design Center in California, the concept’s hood, from above, appears to be wider than the rest of the car. It will feature much more pronounced wheelarches in the rear than in the front, while the tail of the GT4 concept appears to have a more tapered look.
This is most of what we could gather from these teaser images, we are sure this race will keep getting more interesting as the date of the show approaches and more car manufacturers begin to drop hints.
