- Will share its underpinnings with the Hyundai Venue
- Likely to launch in August 2020
- Will rival the Vitara Brezza, XUV300 and Ford Figo
Back in August 2019, we reported about Kia developing a compact SUV for the Indian market. The Kia compact SUV has now been spotted testing for the first time in the country.
Although, heavily camouflaged, the compact SUV reveals its tall stance, LED taillights and the roof rails. One of the spy shots also reveal that it will get a floating touchscreen infotainment system. As reported earlier, the Kia compact SUV will share its underpinnings with the Hyundai Venue. However, it will have a different top hat and interiors, along with the signature Kia design philosophy.
What will also make its way into the Kia compact SUV will be the smart connectivity features via the UVO Connect suite. Under the hood, it is expected to be available with two petrol engines - 1.2-litre Kappa and 1.0-litre T-GDi - and a detuned version of the 1.5-litre diesel motor that powers the Kia Seltos.
Kia Motors India is considering an aggressive pricing for the compact SUV, and we expect it to undercut the Venue. It is likely to be launched in India in August 2020. The Kia compact SUV will primarily compete against the Hyundai Venue and the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. Besides, it will also rival the likes of the Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon and the Ford EcoSport.
