- To sit between Sonet and Seltos
- To debut later this year
Kia Clavis, the SUV measuring just under four metres but which will be positioned between the Sonet and the Seltos, was recently spied testing. This new compact SUV from Kia is all set to make its debut later this year with a launch scheduled in early 2025.
The new spy pictures of the Clavis that surfaced recently are one of the clearest sets of images we have seen of the SUV so far. Though covered in camouflage, it reveals the exterior styling and design, and also gives us a glimpse of the interior of the upcoming SUV.
As seen in the picture, the Kia Clavis gets an upright and tall stance with a boxy silhouette. It resembles the Sonet and also the Carens MPV with some of the design elements. However, a few notable highlights include vertically stacked DRLs, pod-style headlamps, dual-tone alloy wheels, low-placed LED taillamps, and a large rear windscreen with a flat tailgate. Also, adding to the SUV stance are the functional roof rails, squared wheel arches, and chunky cladding all around.
Now, for the first time, the interior of the Clavis has been revealed. As visible in the image, the flat-bottom steering wheel gets a twin-spoke treatment with a dual-tone finish. Then, there are controls on the steering wheel for the media and instrument panel.
Other noticeable elements include auto wipers, off-centre Kia logo on the steering wheel, twin displays for the infotainment and driver’s display, and physical controls for the infotainment.
Mechanically, there is a high chance that the Clavis will use the same powertrain as the Kia Sonet. This includes a 1.2-litre petrol, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol, and a 1.5-litre diesel engine, all with manual and automatic gearbox options.
