Yesterday Kia released its first teaser images for the Clavis SUV that will come to India in 2025 and today we got spy shots of the rear seat package. In the photos, we can see a split folding rear bench with a large central armrest. Also visible are dual AC vents, USB-C charging ports, storage slot and seat back pockets.
The Clavis will be the second compact model from Kia and will slot in between the Sonet and Seltos in the Kia hierarchy. It is expected to share its platform and underpinnings with the Sonet but will offer more space at the back, something that’s been an issue with the Sonet since its inception. The engines in question are expected to be the Sonet’s 1.0-litre GDi turbo petrol and 1.2-litre NA petrol. Both engines get MT and AT options.
Kia, like sister company Hyundai, had adopted a strategy of multiple models in each part of the market to earn collective volumes. Higher up it has the Seltos and Carens while below them will now come the Sonet and the Clavis.
