The all-new Kia C’eed has been in development for quite some time now. After beingen spotted undergoing cold weather test, it hit the Nurburgring. Now the Korean hatchback has been spied in southern Europe and for the first time, we got a glimpse of the revamped interior on the test mule.
The current generation C’eed has been around since 2012 and is set to be replaced next year with the third generation. Carrying the same camouflage as before, the C’eed seems to be slightly bigger than the model currently on sale. Even with the increase in dimension, the new generation version of the Kia’s highest selling model will be lighter owing to new and revised underpinnings.
The Korean carmaker’s Euro hatch will wear the same conservative yet modern styling which it is famous for. Kia’s grille can be seen on the test mule while the and DRLs are alsoimminentto be expected in this model. The wider tail lights also get some LED treatment while the overall layout of the hatch remains the same.
The most prominent changes come areon the inside. The dashboard layout moves away from the older C’eed and is significantly similar to the new i30, with which of it shares most of its parts and bits. The centre console, although under cladding, now gets a floating infotainment system. The instrument cluster and the steering wheel appears to be new as well.
Even Under under the hood, the new Kia C’eed will be similar to the Hyundai i30 as well. The new 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine will join the roost withcomes with 138bhp powero and 242Nm torque. The 1.0-litre unit which currently does duty in the C’eed GT Line will be retained while the naturally aspirated 1.4-litre mill will be the entry level powertrain. As far as the oil burner is concerned, the 1.6-litre engine will be available in three states of tune - 95, 110, and 133bhp. Transmission options would include a six-speed manual gearbox and an optional seven-speed, dual-clutch gearbox.
The three-door ProCeed and the GT Line along with the estate variant are going to follow suit once the five-door hatch spotted here goes on sale sometime next year. It will be built in Zilina, Slovakia and continue to be Kia’s offering in the Euro hatch segment.
