- The premium ‘MG Select’ dealerships to start in 12 cities across India
- To sell flagship products under the MG Select retail chains.
JSW MG Motor India is extending its hold to India's premium cars market by introducing a new retail chain under the ‘MG Select’ name. This new premium outlet will have all the automaker's upcoming flagship products, including hybrids and electrics.
This is a similar approach which Maruti Suzuki took by dividing its product range between two outlets – Arena and Nexa. While the former is for entry-level models, the latter is focused on premium offerings like the Invicto.
Currently, MG has seven models on sale, including the Comet EV, Astor, Hector, Hector Plus, ZS EV, Gloster, and the recently launched Windsor EV. These products will continue to be retailed via the standard MG dealerships.
The new MG Select brand will majorly focus on the upcoming flagship products, including the Cyberster, which made its public appearance in India in March 2024. The automaker will bring in more products with hybrid, plug-in hybrid, strong hybrid, and fully-electric powertrains. This new sub-brand will have products to sell starting in 2025 and the automaker plans to inaugurate the MG Select showroom across 12 cities in a phased manner.
Commenting on the occasion, Gaurav Gupta, Chief Growth Officer, JSW MG Motor India, said, “The traditional concept of 'purchasing' is evolving, with Indian consumers increasingly shifting towards accessible luxury. MG Select aims to position itself as a key player in this segment by offering an elevated brand experience to new-age customers, who aspire for premium brands. Infused with personalisation and driven by innovation, the MG Select experience centres will offer a curated experience to customers, blending culture, hospitality, sustainability, innovation, and craftsmanship, and reimagining luxury.
