These are first pictures of JLR’s upcoming Range Rover Sport Coupe that can be seen testing at the Nurburgring in Germany. This car could go up against the likes of the Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe and BMW’s X6.
Codenamed L560, this vehicle has been in the works ever since the Jaguar F-Pace was under development, and is expected to share the suspension bits and aluminium body. While the camouflage has been successful in not revealing much, the aggressively sloping roofline and squeezed rear section windows point unmistakeably to the Coupe design.
Though it is rumoured that the new car could feature a range of petrol and diesel motors from the current Land Rover stable, it remains to be seen if the engine from the F-Pace will be used. Sources also reckon that the upcoming car may get the all-electric motor that is being developed for the I-Pace EV next year. With the obvious tight overhang at both ends, it sure looks like the car maker will also furnish the upcoming Sport Coupe with adequate off-road ability through its Terrain Response.
Though a lot of details are still fuzzy at the moment, the new Sport Coupé could make it to showrooms in 2017. Stay tuned for more on this in the coming months.
