The first round of the JK Tyres FMSCI National Championship 2018 ended with the successful running of all the events despite heavy rain that threatened to disrupt the proceedings altogether. But with so much adrenaline and excitement all around nothing could put a damper on the spirits of the racers at the Kari Speedway.
The day began with the second Euro JK18 race that had been postponed from yesterday. Sri Lanka’s Bryan Perea took top honours in Race 3 and 4 while Nayan Chaterjee and Ashwin Datta took second and third place respectively in the same races. Yesterday’s winner Karthik Tharani, came sixth in this race but ended up taking victory in final Euro JK18 race. Ashwin Datta leads the championship with 24 points while Bryan Perera and Karthik Tharani both have 23 points each.
In the Formula LGB4 category, Rohit Khanna and Ragul Rangasamy claimed a race victory each while Chittesh Mandody and Vishnu Prasad took third and second places in both of the days races. The second race was delayed and started behind the safety car due to a heavy spell of rain but the entire grid made it to the finish line without any major incidents.
The break between the races saw a round bike stunting as well as an excellent display of car control from JK Tyres car stunting team that used a set of slightly modified Balenos to enthral the crowds with J-turns, slides and handbrake popping parallel parking manoeuvres.
The racing fraternity will return to the Kari Speedway in the period of August 31 to September 2 for the running of the second round of the JK Tyres FMSCI National Championship 2018.
