The Round 3 of 2019 JK Tyre National Racing Championship was held at the Kari Motor Speedway last weekend. The action-packed race weekend saw Chennai duo Diljith TS and Mohammed Ryan dominate Day 1 in Coimbatore while on Day 2, Vishnu Prasad and Mumbai’s Aaroh Ravindra took the top laurels.
Diljith of Dark Don Racing made the most of the first day taking maximum possible 10 points in the Formula LGB-4 after clocking a time of 20:52.145 minutes. Meanwhile, Diljith’s teammates, Sandeep Kumar A (20:52.462 minutes) and Ashwin Datta (20:55.619 minutes), took the other two places on the podium. Vishnu Prasad had to settle for a fourth-place finish, while championship leader Raghul Rangasamy managed to cross the line at fifth place.
On the other hand, Mohammed Ryan of MSport stormed into the lead in the JK Tyre Novice Cup, winning both the races on Day 1. Ryan’s team-mate Chirag Ghorpade finished second behind him in Race 1 while Mihir Avalakki of Birel Art rounded off the podium. In the Race 2, Himanshu Thukral of MSport finished second while Kishore of DTS Racing claimed the third position.
On Sunday, Vishnu Prasad finished the race weekend gaining the top spot on the championship table. MSport’s Vishnu won one race and took the second position in the other one thus collecting 23 points over the weekend and thus leading the championship table with 68 points. Vishnu overtook his teammate Raghul Rangasamy who picked up 16 points to finish with a total of 63 points after the third round. Meanwhile, Diljith TS managed to finish sixth and fifth in Sunday’s races to hold on to his third position with 48 points.
Momentum Motorsports Aaroh Ravindra nicked the Novice Cup title even after a disastrous weekend. Aaroh began with a 13-point advantage but failed to pick up a single point owing to a DNS and a DNF. However, scoring four points in the concluding race, Aaroh finished with a total of 56 points, which was good enough to beat Chirag Ghorpade (52) and Mohamed Ryan (48).
The fourth and final round of 2019 JK Tyre National Racing Championship will be held on 1 December at the Buddh International Circuit in Noida.
