- To share underpinnings with the Fiat 500X
- To be offered in petrol and diesel engine options
- Unlikely to get an all-wheel-drive option
A while ago we had revealed that Jeep is planning on introducing a small sub-four metre SUV for the Indian market and the company had also confirmed about the same. This time around, the company has confirmed that its compact SUV will be launched in India in 2020. Post-launch, the compact SUV will compete against the likes of the Ford EcoSport, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and the recently introduced Tata Nexon.
The vehicle is expected to be offered in petrol and diesel engine options and will share the underpinnings with the Fiat 500X. It is believed that the company might also introduce a hybrid option at the time of its launch. The upcoming model will be the smallest offering in the global market. Moreover, it is believed that the upcoming model will also have a mild off-roading ability and might not get an all-wheel-drive option.
Designed for the urban market, the sub-four-metre Jeep will get some design elements from the Renegade. The interior will get premium upholstery and basic safety equipment in the form of multiple airbags and ABS with EBD as standard. More details about the vehicle will be known in the days to come.
