Known for making extreme yet luxurious off-roaders capable of invading the toughest of terrains, the Jeep brand has introduced a special edition model of the Wrangler at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show.
Called the Wrangler Rubicon X Package, this new limited edition model will be available exclusively for the European market. It is based on the Rubicon trim level and is recognisable by its 17-inch aluminum wheels finished in black, a dual-intake hood and a deep-tint sunscreen glass. Additionally, this limited edition model comes standard with a body-colour hard top – a first on the Rubicon trim level.
Inside, the cabin boasts of red or black leather seats and leather-wrapped steering wheel. In terms of equipment, Jeep is offering heated seats, GPS navigation with 6.5-inch touch screen, climate control and lots more as standard.
Like the standard model, the limited edition model will also be offered with a 2.8-litre turbo diesel engine producing 200bhp and 460Nm of torque. For those looking for more power albeit with fewer torque, there’s also a 3.6-litre V6 petrol engine putting out 284bhp and 347Nm. Both the engines come paired with a 5-speed automatic gearbox.
Designed purely to go off-road, the car is equipped with 4WD, a low-range gearbox, front and rear locking differentials. Jeep also offers what it calls an Active Sway Bar System - which delivers additional wheel travel for traversing the toughest trails.
The new Wrangler Rubicon X Package will be introduced in Europe later this year in two and four-door trims.
