Jeep has officially confirmed that they will unveil the Wrangler and Grand Cherokee for the Indian market on February 3 just before the 2016 Auto Expo.
Since the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT and the Wrangler Unlimited were recently exhibited at a private event, we can expect these same vehicles to debut at the Auto Expo. However, we might also be able to see the Grand Cherokee and Grand Cherokee Limited on display, since these vehicles have also been imported.
The Grand Cherokee SRT is based on the Grand Cherokee, but powered by bigger 6.4-litre Hemi V8 petrol engine. This mill churns out a humungous 469bhp of power. Transmission options include an eight-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters and a four-wheel drive system.
Similarly, a 3.6-litre V6 petrol mill can be seen under the hood of the Wrangler Unlimited. This mill produces 281bhp of power and 353Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to either a five-speed automatic or a six-speed manual transmission.
All these vehicles will be initially brought to India through the CBU route. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) might later manufacture some of its models at their manufacturing plant in Ranjangaon eventually reducing the product prices with local assembly/production.
