Jeep is currently working on its upcoming big launch for the Chinese market, the Grand Commander. As you may have figured after reading the name, the Grand Commander indeed is a family SUV with seating for up to seven occupants.
In terms of design the Grand Commander borrows plenty of design cues from other Jeep models including the Compass and the Cherokee. It will be powered by a 2-litre motor that’s currently offered in the China-spec Wrangler. There will be two versions of this motor – 234bhp and 265bhp.
The Jeep Grand Commander will make its global debut during the Beijing Auto Show in April. It will be made under the Guangzhou-Fiat joint venture. When launched, it will be positioned above the locally made Cherokee.
