The 2018 Jeep Wrangler has been in the public glare for quite some time now that the camouflage on the test mules is decreasing by the day. So finally, FCA has revealed the all-new 2018 Jeep Wrangler and thankfully, it continues to be the off-road wonder it has always been.
We all knew that the new Wrangler is not going to look anything different from the older car, for it has to carry the long legacy and the heritage that started with the CJs. The vertically slatted grille and the signature Jeep lamps complete the fascia along with the modern bits like the daytime running lamps. You can get it in the 3-door or the 5-door avatars with choice of a soft or a hard top.
It is a Wrangler and as long as it can crawl over rocks and wade through ponds, no one is ever going to pay attention to how is it on the inside. But, Jeep has improved there as well with the new dash, better looking trims and a bit of added luxury. The most important part however, is the drivetrain and the 2018 Wrangler will get three options – the 2.0-litre turbo-petrol, the 3.6-litre Pentastar and the 3.0-litre diesel engines. The Wrangler will be offered in three trims – Sport, Sahara and Rubicon – with the Rubicon getting the individual e-diff-locks and the ‘4LO’ with an extra low-ration for rock-climbing and hardcore off-roading.
The new Jeep Wrangler will hit the road in the USA in January and will spread out across the globe gradually. Since the Indian car is a CBU import, we might be able to get one here by mid-2018.
