Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has announced its plans to introduce a three-row mid-size utility vehicle in the Indian market. Globally, the company plans to launch nine new or updated models by 2022, however in India, the company will be introducing three-row mid-size utility vehicles and a sub-four-metre one. Additionally, the company will also double its dealer point of sales and expand its service network. Starting this year, the company has also increased its plant capacity to further strengthen its foothold in the Indian market.
Although Jeep has not revealed technical details for the vehicle, we believe that it might emerge as the new rival for the Toyota Fortuner in India. Mechanically, it is likely to be powered by 2.0-litre petrol and diesel engine options. Known to offer uncompromising safety features, the upcoming three-row SUV will also get dual airbags, EPS and ABS with EBD. The vehicle will also be offered with different driving modes such as – mud, sand and snow. The vehicle will be offered in six-speed manual and seven-speed DDCT transmission options.
Expected to be positioned between the Compass and the Wrangler, the vehicle is likely to be offered with premium leather upholstery, large touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The SUV will also get automatic AC controls, and a lot of storage spaces. Moreover, it will also get three-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, rear parking sensors, keyless smart entry and start, downhill assist control and a powered tailgate.
