Jeep has teased the updated Renegade in a single teaser image ahead of the crossover’s official debut at the 2018 Turin Motor Show. The refreshed B-segment SUV will get a slight cosmetic update and a revised powertrain in the European market. Jeep has been contemplating the introduction of Renegade in India for quite some time now And it is believed that we might get this very facelift model.
The cosmetic changes will include a new fascia with tweaked grille and revised headlamps. The seven-slat grille will be flanked by the same circular shaped headlamps but there will be new rectangular lighting elements inside it. Besides that, the bumpers will be redesigned completely with the reworked fog lamps and air vents thanks to the spied images. On the inside, there will be a larger 8.4-inch infotainment screen with fewer buttons on the centre console.
Under the hood, the facelifted Renegade will get revised powertrains. The current engine options will be joined by three- and four-cylinder petrol motors. A 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol motor with 120bhp and a 1.3-litre unit with either 150bhp or 180bhp is also on the cards. It is uncertain whether FCA will continue providing the Renegade with an oil-burner since the carmaker will be phasing out diesel powerplants from as early as 2021 from the European market.
Jeep will be introducing a sub-Renegade SUV in India which will rival the likes of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Ford EcoSport. Meanwhile, the Renegade will be a rival to the highly-successful Hyundai Creta in the compact-crossover segment. When launched in India, the Renegade will be locally produced at the carmaker’s Ranjangaon facility.
