American SUV giant Jeep has recorded sales of more than 1 million units across the globe in 2014, setting a new record for the third consecutive year for the brand. With sales of 10.17 lakh units in total, Jeep has bettered its 2013 sales run of 7.31 lakh by a massive 39 per cent.
In addition to its 39 per cent global increase, overall sales rose by 41 per cent in the US in 2014, at 6.92 lakh units. As for the other markets, sales improved 40 per cent in Europe and 42 per cent in the Asia-Pacific region in 2014.
“2014 marks the fifth consecutive year that Jeep vehicle sales have increased both globally and in the U.S. market,” said Mike Manley, President and CEO – Jeep Brand. “While we are especially pleased with the way the new Jeep Cherokee is resonating in the marketplace, the fact is that every vehicle in the Jeep line-up recorded significant worldwide sales gains”
Jeep was to be launched in India in 2013 but it didn’t happen and then there were rumours that the brand might not make it at all. However, recent reports indicate that the brand might make it to India this year with two products – the Grand Cherokee and the Wrangler.
