The Jeep Grand Cherokee has been a popular name the UK market. To thrill the local car buyers further, Jeep has announced fresh enhancements to the current model for 2016/17. Along with the new Grand Cherokee (MY16), Jeep has also introduced the Grand Cherokee 75th Anniversary special edition to celebrate its 75 years of history and the Grand Cherokee SRT Night in the UK market.
The new Jeep Grand Cherokee in UK now gets a new feature upgrade in the form of a new Start/Stop function which helps in achieving a 14 gram reduction in CO2 levels and an electric steering as compared older model. Jeep claims that the fuel economy has also been improved to 40.4mpg on diesel versions. The company has also included three new exterior colour options - Velvet Red, Redline and Ivory Tri-Coat. The new electric power steering comes with selectable driving modes - Sport, Comfort or Normal. The interior gets a more substantial premium gear lever as a replacement to the current system. For the first time, Jeep has included full speed forward collision warning system and a ‘Stop’ function on the Rear Park Assist at speeds of up to 11kmph. The Jeep Grand Cherokee MY16 starts at £45,050 OTR ( Approx Rs 40.18 lakh) for the 3.0 CRD Limited+, and £52,550 OTR (Approx Rs 46.86 lakh) for the 3.0 CRD Summit.
For exclusivity, Jeep has limited the Grand Cherokee 75th Anniversary special edition to about 125 units in UK. The special edition continues to be powered by a 3.0-litre V6 MultiJet 246bhp engine which comes mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and the Quadra-Trac II 4x4 system. The special edition trim gets external bronze detailing and 75th Anniversary badging, 20-inch bronze coloured alloy wheels, a bold new front design, new LED fog lamps, a Safety Technology Pack (adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with crash mitigation, cross path detection, and bind spot monitoring), Quadra-Lift air suspension, dual pane panoramic sunroof, 75th Anniversary seat design with 1941 logo, and black leather with tangerine stitching. The special edition is available in shades of Recon Green, Bright White, Brilliant Black and Granite. The Jeep Grand Cherokee 75th Anniversary is priced at £50,550 OTR (Approx Rs 45.08 lakh).
Taking exclusivity to the next level, the Grand Cherokee SRT Night is even more limited in number - only 30 units. The limited edition SRT Night version claims to be the fastest and the most powerful Jeep ever built. Powered by a 6.4-litre V-8 petrol engine the vehicle claims to generate 462bhp of power and 624Nm of torque. The vehicle is capable of clocking a 0 – 100kmph in under five seconds and achieve a top speed of 257kmph. The car comes with five dynamic drive modes: Auto, Sport, Tow, Track, and Snow. To make things more interesting, it comes with a 8.4-inch UConnect Touchscreen system (activated by an SRT button next to the Selec-Trac controls). To complete its sporty appeal, the SUV comes with stylish ‘Black Vapor’ 20-inch wheels which are offered in exclusive Satin Black finish and are designed to flaunt the Grand Cherokee SRT Night’s standard Brembo brakes. The Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT Night is priced at £69,865 OTR (Approx Rs 62.31 lakh).
