Fiat had announced in early December that it would be bringing the Jeep line up to the Indian market by the middle of this year. Now the team at Autocar have spotted a trio of vehicles from the American automaker testing on Indian soil outside Pune.
The Grand Cherokee will be powered by a 3.0-litre turbodiesel V6 which produces 237bhp and 550Nm of torque. The Wrangler on the other hand will get a 2.8-litre diesel mill that produces 200bhp and 460Nm of torque. Both models are also expected to be offered with a 3.6-litre V6 petrol also.
The Cherokee that was spotted is a pre-facelift model but we expect that when Jeep launches the SUV it will be the latest model. The two Jeep Wranglers that were spied as essentially the same vehicle, but in long and short wheel base versions.
Fiat is expected to launch the iconic Jeep Wrangler and the Jeep Grand Cherokee in the third quarter of 2013 and both vehicles will be launched as CBUs initially. Jeep also plans to launch a compact SUV in 2015 and India will be one of the first markets where the vehicle will make its debut. Eventually, the American SUV maker plans to bring its complete portfolio here.

Edit: The CarWale team also spotted the same vehicles in Pimpri-Chinchwad outside Pune on Sunday, and we noticed that they were fully registered. That means that homologation has been done, and the first vehicle launch can't be too far away.
