The much awaited Jeep Compass has finally launched in India at a starting price of Rs 14.95 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The American car manufacturer’s most affordable offering in the country, the Compass is available in three variants – Sport, Longitude and Limited. The newly launched model is available in five shades – vocal white, hydro blue, minimal grey, exotica red and brilliant black.
The Jeep Compass is available in petrol and diesel engine options. The diesel variant gets a 2.0-litre MultiJet II engine that generates 170bhp of power and 350Nm of torque, while the petrol version is powered by a 1.4-litre Multiair engine that generates 160bhp of power and 250Nm of torque. The Sport variant is limited to six-speed manual transmission in petrol as well as diesel variant. The Longitude variant is limited to diesel engine that comes mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The top of the line Limited variant is available in six-speed diesel and the petrol variant gets a seven-speed DDCT transmission as standard. Safety features like electronic parking brake, active turn signals, driver airbag and dual stage passenger airbags, all-speed traction control system and electronic stability control is offered as standard. In addition to these, the vehicle also gets ABS with EBD, hill start assist, electronic roll mitigation, rear wiper and defogger, double crank prevention system and dual-note electric horns. The Sport Petrol and Diesel variant are priced at Rs 14.95 lakhs and Rs 15.45 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Speaking of features in the base variant, the Compass Sport gets a customisable 3.5-inch graphic driver information display, 5.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with four speakers, in-built compass, driver seat height adjust and 60/40 split rear seat. Additionally, the vehicle also gets a full length floor console with sliding armrest on the front, while the rear gets an arm rest with cup holders. As for the exterior, the vehicle gets a seven slot grille surrounded with chrome rings, body-coloured door handles and mirrors with turn signal, and a rear spoiler. The Longitude variant is limited to diesel powertrains only and is priced at Rs 16.45 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). Jeep is also offering a Longitude option trim which further offers features like roof rails, bi-function projector halogen headlamps, rear parcel shelf and seven-inch touchscreen display with AC controls. The option pack additionally offers android with apple CarPlay, dual zone temperature control, activated carbon air filler and signature LED position lamps. The Longitude Option is available for Rs 17.25 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The top-spec Limited variant gets all the features from its Longitude variant including the option pack as standard. The Compass Limited variant additionally offers scuff plates, reverse parking sensors and a reverse parking camera. The Limited variant in diesel is priced at Rs 18.05 lakh while the petrol automatic is available for Rs 18.70 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Customers who need more features have the Option pack which offers a dual tone roof and bi-xenon high intensity discharge headlamps. The Limited Option pack is available in diesel and petrol automatic at a price of Rs 18.75 lakhs and Rs 19.40 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) respectively. Jeep Compass is also available in Limited 4x4 and Limited Option 4x4 in diesel additionally get side airbags, all-row full-length side-curtain airbags, Jeep Active Drive and Selec-Terrain. The Limited 4x4 is priced at Rs 19.95 lakhs and the 4x4 Options is priced at Rs 20.65 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).
For customers interested in buying the newly launched Compass, the Longitude variant with an Option pack emerges as a good option as it covers all the necessary convenience features and is also offered at a decent price. However, the Longitude variant is only limited to a diesel version. The top-spec Limited variant is only worth the bet if you need an automatic petrol or a 4x4 diesel variant.
