FCA India has, today, commenced accepting bookings for the Jeep Compass Trailhawk. Potential customers can make a reservation for the amount of Rs 50,000 (refundable) at any of its 82 dealerships across 70 Indian cities. The Compass Trailhawk is the company’s first ‘Trail Rated’ SUV in India, and it is manufactured at the company’s Ranjangaon facility near Pune. We have already driven the Compass Trailhawk, and you can read our first drive review here.
Speaking on the occasion, Kevin Flynn, President and Managing Director, FCA India, said, “The Trailhawk is a product which is developed for customers looking for a hugely capable and exclusive SUV in the compact category. It is the first compact SUV to be offered with the 2.0-litre 173 PS, 350 Nm BS VI turbo-diesel engine, nearly a year before the new emission norms come into effect and, it is the only compact SUV which comes with a 9-speed automatic transmission.”
The Compass Trailhawk packs quite a few functional and cosmetic upgrades, and a set of new features. New features include a cruise control system with speed limiter, Hill Descent Control, and 7-inch MID. However, the party piece is the Jeep Active Drive 4x4 Low drive-train that offers the much-needed off-road credibility to the SUV. Other changes include underbody protection, enhanced water wading capacity, and all-terrain tyres.
Powering the Jeep Compass Trailhawk is a BS-VI compliant 2.0-litre diesel motor that is mated to a ZF-sourced nine-speed automatic transmission. The engine makes 170bhp and 350Nm. The SUV also gets a dedicated Rock mode for the Selec-Terrain system.
