- 20,000 units of Jeep Compass sold in eight months
- New production milestone of 25,000 units in March 2018
Jeep has added a new feather to its hat by selling around 20,000 units of the Compass SUV in India in the last eight months. Interestingly, the company had delivered over 6000 units of the Compass in the first quarter of 2018 itself. Moreover, the company has crossed a new production milestone of 25,000 units at its facility in Ranjangaon.
The Jeep Compass SUV is available in petrol and diesel engine options. The 1.4-litre Multiair petrol engine generates 160bhp of power and 250Nm of torque. The diesel version gets a 2.0-litre MultiJet II engine that generates 170bhp of power and 350Nm of torque. The petrol version gets an optional automatic transmission, while the diesel version is limited to a manual transmission only. The 4x4 option is only available in a top spec ‘Limited’ variant.
The right-hand drive version of the Jeep Compass is produced at the same FCA facility in Ranjangaon with 65 per cent localisation. The company’s facility near Pune caters to markets like Australia, Japan, and the UK. The standard safety features like dual-front airbags along with ABS and EBD has made it a popular choice in the competition.
