The recently launched Jeep Compass SUV has received over 10,000 bookings in the country. Last month we had reported that we expect Compass sales to rise to 2,000 units a month. And the numbers are just expected to rise with the onset of the festive season. The Compass being the most affordable offering from Jeep in India, it has caught the attention of SUV buyers in the country.
In efforts to keep up with growing demand for the Jeep Compass, the premium car manufacturer plans to ramp up the production at the Ranjangaon facility with two shifts and six days working pattern. Interestingly, the Compass is the company’s first locally assembled model that has 65 per cent localization. Speaking of Jeep Compass success, Kevin Flynn, President and Managing Director, FCA India said, “The Made in India Jeep Compass has gained remarkable traction in the market since we opened the order books in June. Along with the incredible response to our pricing, customers are also drawn to the Jeep Compass for its impressive character, capability and authenticity.”
Under the hood, the Jeep Compass gets a 1.4-litre Multiair engine that generates 160bhp of power and 250Nm of torque, while the diesel version gets a 2.0-litre MultiJet II engine that generates 170bhp of power and 350Nm of torque. The Compass is available in three variants – Sport, Longitude and Limited, which is further available in 10 trims.
